Earth Elegies
This 13th century icon of the Cambrai Madonna is believed to have originated in Tuscany and has influenced a wide range of paintings. Here she sits nestled among the seashells of the esteemed German artist and biologist, Ernst Haeckel. His late 19th century botanical illustrations are some of the most exquisite ever drawn. Many look very contemporary in their design, and invoke a wonderful marriage of art and science. This piece is surrounded by a handmade patinated copper frame.
